About Us

The Great Canadian Adventure started in 1997, designed to be an essential part of a church planting movement in Canada. As churches were planted, the team in Canada found that they were learning new approaches to evangelism. When they shared some of those thoughts with GCA teams, there was an immediate positive response; many found the ideas to be readily adaptable to their own context. As a result, since 1998 The Great Canadian Adventure has paired the missions experience with training in evangelism.

Since the churches being started are in multi-cultural cities, the trip is also a great cross-cultural experience - without having to learn another language. The GCA has been tremendously effective at building bridges into skeptical communities and creating a positive awareness of the new church in the two communities already targeted.

Since 1997, the GCA has played a critical role in the initiation of three church plants - Grace Community Church in Mississauga, Ontario, and The Village Community Church in Milton, Ontario, and Community of Hope in Surrey, British Columbia. In 2010, the GCA will assist in the beginnings of a church plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
